Today, despite the many heart wrenching stories of families affected by cuts to autism services shared by MPP Tim Hudak and his colleagues in the PC Caucus, Ontario’s Liberal Government voted against the Progressive Conservative’s opposition day motion to reinstate life-changing autism therapy for children over the age of five. As of May 1st, the Liberal Government has terminated Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) therapy for those aged five and above.

The Ontario Legislative Assembly is paying tribute to the "social cowboy" and former Welland MPP, the late Peter Kormos today with members of all three parties making statements. 

 

My colleague, MPP Jim Wilson will be speaking on behalf of the Ontario PC Party, but I thought it would be a good time to remember Peter. The following is the statement I made, as leader of the Ontario PC Party, when Peter passed away in March of 2013. I feel the same today as I did three years ago: "We shall not see his like again."

I have met with parents, and service providers, on this issue and I’ve heard how difficult it is to wait, and wait, for services that will help your child. So I’ve been working to bring equal access to autism services to Niagara.
